29.4.06 Who let the dogs out, well they didn't come out to play. South Lismore bit the Tail of Bangalow Blue Dogs and they surrendered without even a yelp. Once again the away team scored first but the supporters on the verandah reminded Bangalow that Woodburn was in the same position after their 10 - 1 loss. South's didn't finish all there opportunities which could have had the score line in South's favour around the 4 -1 mark but instead went into the sheds at halftime after a Shawn McDonald special. After half time Bangalow ran hot and cold and South's looked like letting them back into the game with another couple of sitters going begging. Josh O'Driscoll felt the wrath of an angry Coach after a couple of errors but his maturity saw him redeem himself back into the Coaches liking by thundering a header in from a well timed cross. South's still have room for improvement and will need to take this game to their next physical level to achieve there goals.
Final Score: Souths Celtic 2 v Bangalow Bluedogs 1

22.4.06 South Lismore 1st Division mauled Woodburn after Woodburn scored the first goal South's stepped up another notch in what to had been South's best effort in the last 3 years. The Memory of Jake and Jake looking over South Lismore has completely seen the greatest game South Lismore supporters have ever witnessed. The appetizer was First Reserve's win and the Main Course was bulging with talent that came from some players that no one thought capable of having. Aden Cowin's hat trick of goals was just 1 highlight as well as the foul on Travis which got one of the biggest cheers for South Lismore has never seen a pigeon Swan Dive with such grace. Goal Scorers were Aden Cowin 3, Alan Duley 2, Shawn McDonald 1, Jordan Riddle 1, Michael Elliott 1, Todd Jones 1 & an own Goal
Final Score Souths 10, Woodburn 1
22.4.06 South Lismore 1st Reserve played Woodburn after observing 1 minute silence for the passing of Jake Smith. South Lismore came out to play soccer on this day. Goal Scorers Jordan Riddle 1,Todd Jones 1 & Andrew Fifield 1.
Final Score Souths 3, Woodburn 0.

22.4.06 South Lismore 4th Division scraped home with a draw against Nimbin Headers with the help of some Over 35's that had a bye bestowed upon them with the late withdrawal from the competition of Alstonville.
Final Score Souths 2, Nimbin Headers 2.

21.4.06 Lennox Head defeats South's Women 5 - 0. Emotions ran high with the memory of Jake Smith with us on the night. Mixed feelings & the score line not reflecting a good first half in which 3 scoring opportunities did not convert to points. Reserve Goal Keeper Faith Cassidy proved as valuable as Janaya Mumford with Janaya plucking the ball from an impossible angle to save a certain goal and in the second half Faith Cassidy's kicking of the ball out of the 18 yard box proved that Hope Bale had to sit and wait for more than a few sky rockets that went way past half way from Faith.

8.4.06 HAIL HAIL HAIL South's Celtic Defeats Kingscliff 1 - 0

9.4.06 Women's 3rds Defeat Alstonville 2 -1

South's Defeat Kingscliff 1 - 0
4.06 South Lismore came up with a win against Kingscliff but even when the game had so much controversy with disallowed goals and a run of bewildering free kicks given for and against both sides. I suppose we should be just happy with a win

Freight Train De Railed for up to 4 weeks - Monday 3rd April 2006
The Women's 3rd Division has suffered a shock loss to their starting line up for this weekends clash against Alstonville. The Freight Train was derailed in what was described as a shocking incident where actual team mates pushed her during her weekly bash at the indoor volleyball centre at Summit Sports Goonellabah. Some neighbours reported that they felt the small tremor from as far away as the indoor pool. In typical Freight Train Style her only comments were "Ill Be Back!"

Todd Jones Scores a double - Saturday 1st April 2006 -
April Fools Day - Believe it or Not - South Lismore 1st Division after a slow start Hammered the Murwillumbah Hammers Team 7 - 1. South's score should have been more but for a lackluster first half in which the First Division Coach more than explained to the players at half time. This was no April Fools Joke the Hammers don't belong in this division.

June News

12.6.06: "MAY I HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THE BALL SIR" is the wording to not get you a yellow card in the F.F.N.C. Mens 1st Division games. Don't even try to pick the ball up that has to be placed at halfway to allow the game to flow quicker but is not allowed to be used unless asked permission to use it. First Reserve did the same thing 13 times and nothing was said. The person officiating both games out in the middle sought a different view to the second game and even took steps to stop play and move the extra ball to its correct position 6 inches from where the ball was sitting behind the halfway post. Mind you the laws of the game you don't have to provide half way posts. The Souths Coach wanted to know why we have the extra balls placed there. He was answered with only when the ball goes over the fence and with my permission. Maybe that's smart being a main road to Murwillumbah when it does go over, but our defender was returning the ball that was kicked into the fence and when he retrieved it was told to use the ball provided or was it the ball that has to look pretty at half way. We were just hoping everyone came off with their balls intact incase the players were instructed to leave all extra balls at the halfway line.
Final Say: What a Complete Balls Up well we at least had a ball.

12.6.06: South Lismore 1st Division Men defeated Tumbulgum in the dyeing seconds after an Olympic Qualifying Dive was rewarded with a penalty from Shaun McDonald. Don't get me wrong I loved the result but a seeing Eye Dogs Flees could see that was a brilliant piece of well qualified acting and yes it did give us the result required to take the 3 points but were we worthy winners or should we finish a hell of a lot better than that? A missed Penalty Spot kick from Shaun McDonald was forgotten with his Golden Logie Match winning performance. Goal Scorers for Souths were Grant Gough & Lee Simpson with the dot shot. You might ask, what was the game like other than that? Just ask the Referee, I was too busy diving into rule books with half his decisions so I was either swearing about the brilliant appointment from the Tweed Refs Association or jotting down all the new rules that Tweed Refs know about but has failed to tell everyone else. But he did say it was in the year book and I'm still trying to find it.
Final Score: Souths 2 - Tumbulgum 1

12.6.06: South Lismore 1st Reserve Men defeated Tumbulgum to take them to ten straight wins and move 8 points clear of all other teams on the table. The Score should have read around 10 nil with more than 4 absolute sitters being kicked straight to the keeper. A missed opportunity to convert from Michael Elliot on the Penalty Spot was forgotten with Travis Bale scoring a brilliant strike on goal. Neil Warnes coming up with his own World Cup Brilliance by beating everyone and slotting home a well earned goal. Goals also to Scott Williams, Todd Jones and an own goal sealed the deal before a late return to form from Tumbulgum to get 1 back before the Full time whistle.
Final Score: South Lismore 5 - Tumbulgum 1

9.6.06: South Lismore Grade 16 Girls defeated Rovers in a hard fought game producing more hugs and kisses than shots on goal. The problem was with both sides is that they liked each other too much and were more worried about hurting each other than playing their natural game. A superb shot on goal by Striker Lucy Towner was the only difference on the night.
Final Score: Souths 1 - Rovers 0

3.6.06: South Lismore 1st Division Men convincingly defeated Uki 5 - 0 with goals coming from Shaun McDonald, Aden Cowin, John Denardi, Josh O'Driscoll and new Team Captain Grant Gough. New signings Lee Simpson & Kyle Hughes had a dream start into there new team with a strong showing by both boys. Competition is heating up with other Teams such as Tweed Heads, Bangalow, Alstonville & Woodburn breathing down our necks with Burringbar still remaining on top with a 1 all draw with Bangalow this Week. We will watch with great interest the Alstonville v Burringbar catch up game at CP1 Saturday at 3pm.
Final Score: South Lismore 5 - Uki 0

3.6.06 South Lismore 1st Reserve Men - defeated Uki 7 - 0 in a display that may have the famous "Guus Hiddink" wonder weather he has the right team in Germany and why aren't these boys on the plane. A Hat Trick to Scott Pope , 2 Goals to Andrew Fifield & Goals from Mick Elliott & Tim Neilson witnessed an awesome display of Football. This team still remains undefeated after 9 rounds of Football
Final Score: South Lismore 7 - Uki 0

3.6.06: South Lismore Grade 12 / 2nd Division smashed Kyogle 6 - 1 with an entertaining game for the Souths fans that produced a Hat Trick from Striker Michael King.
Final Score: Souths 6 - Kyogle 1

2.6.06: South Lismore Women's 3rd Division released the "fantastic 4" on gutsy Goonellabah who were defeated 4 - 0 by a superb display of 3rd Division Football. Apart from Anita's miss on the penalty spot, it was a faultless game from the South's Girls with Anita, Janaya, Abby & Sandy all banging home goals. Late in the Second Half it was Kim Law's superb strike on goal with a near miss that may give her the incentive to go up and have another go. Rookie Bethany Collins has played her first game for South's and has helped strengthen the left hand side with a winning edge. The Benchies Mel F., Jess, Mel M all came to the game with injury or illness but played a vital role in helping with the win. Lucy T. from grade 16 also tried out another position as sweeper whilst we let Kim loose to cause havoc up front.
Final Score: South Lismore 4 - Goonellabah 0

MAY NEWS

31.5.06 Freight Train - renowned pinch hitter for South Lismore, Vicki Halliday is out for the entire season with a possible 2 major knee reconstructions in the future. When asked Vicki said "F*** Volleyball, that was the problem i won't be f****** doing that again. I'll play with 2 f****** knee guards if I have to. but the Specialist and Physio now have a big task in trying to keep the Freight Train off the pitch for next season and she may forego her knee operations so she can get together an "Old Ducks" side for next years South's Women's 4th Division

28.5.06: Grade 16 / 2nd Division Girls - witnessed a Woodburn Goal Keeper Smash-a-thon as Brooke Halliday was carted off by Ambulance with suspected spinal injuries when a Woodburn Striker allegedly got to the ball first and scored but ended up with both knees in Brooke's back. And in the Second Half reserve Goal Keeper Carissa Halliday had her head taken off by a Woodburn knee to the head because the player quote said " I thought she would drop the ball if I took her head off!" It was another fantastic refereeing display showing both girls that are both new to the Referees Association what a great job that can be done and how safe the game was with attentative decisions. By the way not 1 free kick or yellow card was awarded for both incidents. Update on Brooke's health is a curvature to the spine with a suspected broken Rib.
Final Score: Souths 0 - Woodburn 3

28.5.06: Grade 13 / 1st Division Girls - suffer first loss against a better Byron Bay team on the day. South Lismore will regroup and won't let this happen again. Final Score: Souths 0 - Byron 2

27.5.06: Mens First Division: WE GOT SMASHED!! End of STORY!!
Final Score: South Lismore 1 - Burringbar 6

27.5.06: Mens First Reserve - defeated the undefeated Burringbar 1 - 0 with a hard fought performance. Leaving South Lismore 6 points clear of the pack but with Burringbar still with a game in hand.
Final Score: South Lismore 1 v Burringbar 0

26.5.06: South Lismore Women's 3rd Division - mauled Mullumbimby tonight and witnessed an Anita Bruggy Hat Trick. Mullumbimby had no answer even though it was a sleepathon where the girls would go to sleep for 10 minutes then wake up, score a goal an go back to sleep for another 10 minutes. Janaya Mumford added to her tally of goals and goal scoring debutant Abby Bale smashes her first goal into the net whilst let loose as Striker. Tamara Quinn tried out as left Mid and Jess Tandy didn't make the game whilst waiting for the N.R.M.A. back at Bangalow for 45minutes. The backline with held temptation to go further forward with a brilliant display by hard trying Bianca Mitchell finally realising that all that hard training has paid off. Kim Law, Hope Bale had solid games and Kim was rewarded with a last 5 minute frolic at the end of the game as striker.

23.5.06 South Lismore's list of undefeated sides is a huge success for the players, coaches, parents and supporters alike. With the Men's 1st Reserve, Boys 14 / 2nd Division, Boys 11 / 1st Division, Girls 13 / 1st Division all still undefeated with a lot more teams looking like heading towards the Semi's. This is due to Coaches professionalism, players turning up to training and Parents understanding that their child loves the same game we all love. Give yourselves all a pat on the back and be proud that you are a Southie because we are proud of you and all of your achievements so far this year.

22.5.06 South Lismore gain 5 new junior referees. Here comes the Refs - South Lismore young guns will be doing their first appointments this weekend - If you are at the games where they are for the first time, encouragement is what is needed. South Lismore would like to congratulate the Pringle, Predebon, Seiffert and Halliday Families for their child completing the Refs Course and their future involvement in the Sport of Soccer and the careers as Referees. If your child would like to Ref or be involved in the next course please contact www.ffncreferees.com.au then click on "becoming a member"

20.5.06 South Lismore 1st Division Men - were let out of jail by Alstonville as they couldn't convert a goal to save themselves. Alstonville had more chances to score than a sailor walking down the street in Kings Cross. I haven't seen more side posts and cross bars hit in my life. Alstonville must have smashed every mirror in their change rooms prior to playing. They must have walked under every ladder, and every black cat in Alstonville must have crossed every players path in that side. Really I'm not a religious man but if God wasn't on our side I thank who ever was. The Green Army took over the hill! Our Goal was scored by a Josh O'Driscoll right footer volleyed and smashed into the back of the net. Whilst their goal might have been first, I think it hit someones back as they cowered into a ball wondering if our keeper was going to smash him and would he come out of it alive. Watch out next week as we host Burringbar in the South's cauldron. Expect something special from the mighty Green & White as we destroy Burringbar's belief of pentrating Premier Division.
Final Score: Souths Celtic 1 - Alstonville 1

20.5.06: South Lismore 1st Reserve Men - answered the question, yes we can take four 4th division players up and still win. Scott Pope was solid in defence.Near the end of the game it was a Crampathon with players lasting 2 minutes each near the end and being subbed on and off every time they got another niggle or cramp.Alstonville anguished over the Rowdy Rocket and the Tim Neilsons Goals. Who cares, Souths is Undefeated and sets up a game with Burringbar this weekend to see who remains undefeated by the end of next week. These 2 sides will not lay down and die. What a great weekend our supporters are in for on the 27th May 2006. Don't miss it, because we will "get ready to rumble".
Final Score - Souths 2 - Alstonville 0

20.5.06: Grade 14 / 2nd Division - South Lismore satisfied the hungry crowd by a solid display of football and it hailed the end of Alstonvilles' undefeated record for the season. It was also a sad day for the Goal Keeper, as it was his 1st Goal scored against him in 4 games late into the game. This side will continue its domination as the Coach seeks to take this squad to the next level and stay undefeated for 2006.
Final Score - Souths 2 - Alstonville 1

20.5.06: Grade 11 / 1st Division - Hughs Hat Trick Washed up Workers. In what was one of the best displays of personal brilliance Hugh wreaked havoc upon the Workers Opposition by what was the best hat trick seen by many of a person for a long time. 2 Goals to Kurt and 1 goal to Patrick saw the reighning Champions still undefeated and on the charge towards another Premiership. Pity the F.F.N.C. results can't keep up with the pace.
Final Score - Souths 7 - Workers 0

19.5.06: Womens 3rd Division - Tintenbar has a player that's more elusive than a Road Runner - We were the Coyotees and we couldn't lay a foot or hand on her. Angie is her name and scoring goals is her game. I think she scored all 6 against us. I have not seen a First Division Womens player as good as her and I believe she could easily play for the F.N.C. Flames and is a potential State or Young Matildas player. Pitty she is a Scholarship holder for Cricket, Australia could use a player like her. By the way Anita scored our 2 Goals. Kim and Tamara worked hard all game and Bianca well maybe next week she will get a write up, well at least she turns up to training.
Final Score - Souths 2 - Tintenbar 6

13.5.06: South Lismore 1st Division Men - were on a high after smoking Tweed Heads 5 - 1. In a brilliant display of football, team work and mateship this win has set the team back on track to realise their dreams and go forward and finish this competition on top. Goal Scorer Shawn McDonald saw yellow as his shirt came off after scoring as the Official caught up with him and produced a yellow card, he will not be attending this years Australian Idol Auditions after that performance. The Goal Scorers were Shawn McDonald 2, Aden Cowin 1, Grant Gough 1 and Jordan Riddle 1. As the bus is yet to come home with the boys email me if I got it wrong but after a hard night of celebrations no one will remember the score after tonight.
Final Score: South Lismore 5 - Twed Heads 1

13.5.06: South Lismore 1st Reserve Men - What can anyone say, when god created Soccer players he went to South Lismore and said you can't get any better than those guys. South Lismore 1st Reserve believe in themselves and they now know they can go all the way. Hopefully without any more drain on the side from players helping out injuries in the top squad that South's have the depth to go through. No reports back as yet from the bus trip as no one is home yet. Get up and applaud because this team is still undefeated in what now is a very tight and close competition. Presumably and rumored murmurs is that Jordan scored the only goal at Tweed Heads.
Final Score: South Lismore 1 - Tweed Heads 0

12.5.06 South Lismore Women's 3rd Division - Bruggies brilliance takes the sparkle out of Stars. Bruggy engineered a brilliant hard fought win against Stars Friday night. Faith had another solid game in goals. Abby and Hope played above expectations and Abby's second half was her best this year with over 5 shots on goal going wide. Tamara had 5 minutes up top to see what she could do and didn't disappoint. The whole back line was strong with Kim getting an early mark and she headed straight for a hard earned drink upstairs. With Mel Mezzarana and Jess Tandy hopefully back next week at peak fitness Tintenbar need to be worried because Souths are on the March towards the Final Series.
Final Score: South Lismore 4 - Italo Stars 1

6.5.06 South Lismore 1st Division Men - suffered a huge "Shock Loss" against Murwillumbah Saints. Even though the excuse of players injured or away was probably a good one, depth is what gets you to play Premier Division Football and depth and sheer guts and determination will see Souths win this Division. Some Clubs have really bad days or can't travel well. Well Souths have to learn to travel better and ensure that this never happens again. Lets put this into perspective the players missing were Strikers Aiden Cowin, Mid Fielder Grant Gough and John Denardi as well as Scott Williams and then during the game Casey Wraight was stretchered off the field. I hope everyone is back on deck for next weeks Bust Trip and ultimately the biggest game of the year to prove to Souths Supporters that they can travel and win Big Games. Tweed Heads is by no means any pushover side and for the players to overcome last weeks loss they must forget what happened and push forward and prove to themselves that they want to go to the next level of Competition.
Final Score: South Lismore 1 v Murwillumbah Saints 4

6.5.06 South Lismore First Reserve Men- Still undefeated after a "get out of Jail" performance, defeated Murwillumbah Saints.
Final Score: South Lismore 3 v Murwillumbah Saints 2

5.5.06 South Lismore Womens 3rd Division - grinded out a win against Bangalow at Bangalow with Sandy Graham being allowed back to Striker to redeem herself for this game. Sandy did not let her Team down and struck a thunder bolt to the back of the net in the first half. Natalie Quinn may have found herself a new position as left fullback with a performance that surprised even herself. All players had to be proud of themselves as there were more than one chance at goal to seal the victory, but it never eventuated.
Final Score: South Lismore 1 v Bangalow 0

6.9.06: Mens 1st Division - When South Lismore met Alstonville last night it wasn't just a game it was a war. Josh O'Driscoll received a strong challenge that resembled Hulk Hogan body slamming a Leprechaun and other challenges that went unnoticed by the referee. The free kick count was 7 to Souths and Alstonville gaining 30 free kicks for trivial and sometimes appalling decisions. South Lismore's goal was a break down the right flank with Aiden Cowin then crossing to Casey Wraight with a fantastic touch straight into the net. Alstonville's goal was a challenge to the Goal Keeper Troy Flannagan and that knocked the ball out of the controlled hands of Troy and then the unthinkable happened, the referee awarded the goal instead the illegal challenge on the Goal Keeper. Then within 2 minutes the Referee awarded a penalty from a 50 - 50 challenge from Souths and Alstonville. Luckily Troy the destroyer of Alstonvilles dreams saved the penalty then was illegally challenged again and gained the free kick. The game proceeded into extra time with absolutely no nails left on the hands of the Souths Bench extra time then proceeded by the Penalty Shoot Out. End of Story - Between Alstonville lack of Penalty Practise and the superb keeping by Troy Flannagan destiny was upon South Lismore to take out a hard fought win. Best players for Souths - Troy Flannagan, John DeNardi and Goal Scorer Casey Wraight.
Simply a Fantastic Team Effort from all the Players .
Final Score Souths 1 - Alstonville 1 -
Penalty Shoot out Souths 4 - Alstonville 3

24.8.06 South Lismore Mens 1st Division played well enough to come out with a win on Thursday Night. With Lee Simpson out the Team, they boys fought hard with Goals coming from Max Toovey and Casey Wraight with a further goal denied late in the First half to Grant Gough but the ball finding the back of the net and the Assistant Referee seeing a hole in the net no one could find.
Final Score - South Lismore 2 - Woodburn 0

Football Far North Coast are dissapionted to annouce the closure of the web blog service.
We thank all our subscribers for their input and banter.
footballfarnorthcoast.com.au has this comment from FFNC General Manager Matt Kelso, “Unfortunatley due to a complaint made regarding some content we have had to suspend the service indefinitely. This action could not have come at a worse time as we head into the final weeks of the season and the semi’s and it would have been great to get comments from the hub of the action.”

31.7.06 South Lismore 1st Division Men received a mauling by an ordinary Bluedogs outfit. Souths at no stage wanted to play a game that was a hard fought sometimes dirty encounter. More yellow cards were given out than what I have witnessed all season and with 2 or was it 3 penalties awarded to the Bangalow Bluedogs they were like bitches on heat to the ball. South Lismore could not have played worse unless they allowed the whole 4th Division side to play for them. With players getting in each others road on multiple occasions, other players failing to mark or pick up unmarked bluedogs with some players having the audacity to rebuke their feelings towards their own Team Mates, it was quite clear they were not there to play football. How about instead of turning up, if you don't want to play just let the Coach know beforehand and we can get someone on that wants to. We can't blame the Referee or the Dew or the lights but we can blame ourselves for letting your ownselves down. Take this opportunity to give yourselves an uppercut, try and forget about whats happened and get back to the job of winning and playing football you all know you can play. Heads Up and onward we march to Burringbar as one, and if we don't play as a team, expect to be flattened, thrashed, brutalised and torn to shreds and just hope the scoreline isn't bigger than what your all afraid it will be.
Final Score: South Lismore 1 v Bangalow 5
